HBC Hokkaido Broadcasting live cam
Hokkaido’s regional broadcaster.
HBC, Hokkaido Broadcasting, is a television and radio station based in Sapporo covering the whole of Hokkaido, Japan's northern island. Hokkaido has more active volcanoes than any other Japanese region, and several of them sit among ski resorts and hot spring towns that people travel to all winter.
The camera on this site watches Tokachidake, in the Daisetsuzan range in the middle of the island. It is the most active volcano in central Hokkaido, with eruptions recorded through the twentieth century, and it stands above the hot spring inns of Shirogane and the lavender farms of Furano and Biei.
What the stream adds to the official monitoring images is continuity: it runs as video rather than as a still refreshed every few minutes, so steam and weather can be watched as they move. Snow covers the upper slopes from October to well into spring.
