Zaiho cameras on Sakurajima

A company based in Tarumizu, across the bay from Sakurajima, which streams the volcano from several cameras.

Zaiho is a Japanese company that streams Sakurajima live from Tarumizu, on the southeastern side of the volcano, and shares the images free on YouTube.

Sakurajima explodes hundreds of times in a normal year, so a camera pointed at its craters catches something most days. Zaiho's cameras give two of the closest views available: one zoomed on the summit craters, where ash columns rise several kilometres, and a wider one that takes in the whole cone and the bay.

Between them and the surveillance camera of the Japan Meteorological Agency, also on this page, it is unusual to miss an explosion at Sakurajima during daylight. At night the glow at the crater rim is often visible as well.

The streams are shown here with their credit and a link to the channel.
